GREAT UNPUBLISHED BOOKS
History is full of supposedly knowledgable people or experts who have pontificated on many subjects. For example, Bill Gates, the owner of Microsoft said in 1991 "640K memory should be enough for anyone." Oops! Got that wrong didn't he? When trains were first invented, some experts stated that travelling at high speed would asphyxiate people because they would not be able to breath. Did anyone mention that to passengers of Concord? Gaffes like these are not just limited to scientific advances. It is well known that the beatles were turned down by some record companies before they finally got a deal. Likewise, J K Rowling, the author of the hugely successful Harry Potter novels also got her share of rejections.

The common theme in all these is that experts can be wrong, and frequently are. Unfortunatley, in many cases these experts hold peoples dreams and aspirations in their hands and sometimes seem to dismiss them almost out of hand.
It has been said that everyone has a book in them. This may be true, but books are hard to write, in some cases taking years. Even so, many people manage to get their stories written down, but that is when the real hard work starts because finding someone to publish it often defeats many would be authors. There are alternatives of course and many companies offer packages that allow you to publish your own work, but this can be expensive and rarely if ever does a book end up being a best seller using this method
So how does it work?
The idea is that Great Unpublished Books provides a forum where you can showcase your work. You send us the first chapter or first 5,000 words and we put it onto the site for people to read. We will also publish your e mail address and if any readers want to purchase the rest of your story they can then contact you directly and you can sell it to them at a price set by you. We will not try to influence what you charge or get involved in any correspondence between you and your readers. The copyright of your work remains yours. This site is only a forum to get your work out into the public domain.
What will it cost?
It is amazingly cheap. In fact it's completely free. Each piece of work you send us will be showcased on the site for six months.
What happens after 6 months?
After your work has been displayed for 6 months, we will contact you asking you if you want to extend the period by another 6 months. If you do, we will leave it on the site
How many people will visit the site?
We don’t know the answer to that, but in part it is up to you. Obviously we will put the site onto search engines, and advertise in appropriate magazines etc, but it is worth remembering that this site is a showcase for your work, so it is in your interest as much as ours to promote the site. All we ask is that you do not resort to spamming or similar means to spread the word about the site.
What if a publisher sees my work and wants to publish it?
Great, that’s what all writers want. Just let us know and we will remove your work from the site,
What do I do next?
Easy. Click on "Contact us" below and send us your first chapter or first 5,000 words by e mail. We will then put it straight on the site. Make sure you put your name and e mail address at the end of your peice so that any reader who wants to purchase your whole book can contact you.
